Willem was count of Nassau-Katzenelnbogen(Dillenburg), he was first maried with Walburga van Egmont, they had two children, after she died he maried Juliana.

Juliana also was maried before, in the summer of 1523 she maried Count Philip II van Hanau-Minzenberg they had five children.

Willem was not called 'the Rich" because of his wealth, he regular had great depts, but because he had many children.

Jacob was registred from 1525-1557 as bailiff of Scheveningen in 's Gravenhage, the Sijmonszstraat in Scheveningen is named after him because he was the first known Scheveningse member in the Haagse bailiffbank.

From 1543-1544 he was bailiff of Valkenburg and the both Katwijken. In 1551 and 1552 he is registred as chief of the St. Anthonisgilde in Scheveningen.

Hij lived in the Kerkstraat, there he owned a 'Boe' and 'droochtuijn'. Later on he lived in the Pastoorstraat next to the hospital.

He worked closely together with Adriaen Koenen van Schilpertoort well-known as writer of the 'Vischbook' (he also has a street named afther him).

Hij re-married with Lijsbeth Ghijsbrechts from Zandvoort, in 1561 he still lived in Scheveningen but on 21-11-1565 he lived in te Rotterdam.


Jacob Sijmons descendants where not impecuniousand and they choosed for the Spanisch occupyer. For a part they went to Rotterdam and married with well-known names as v.d. Meyden, Couwael de Jong, den Bout en Say.
